Crossing Check: 2026 Ferry Fares to Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket

Pick the island and the ferry, the travel dates and who is going. The Crossing check adds up the Steamship Authority’s published 2026 fares line by line: passengers, children, bikes and a car.

Fares from the Steamship Authority’s 2026 fare tables for Woods Hole – Martha’s Vineyard and Hyannis – Nantucket. Fares can change; confirm the total when you book.

How the Crossing check adds it up

Passenger, child and bike fares are the same all year in 2026. For a round trip the check uses the Steamship Authority’s round-trip fare, which on the Nantucket high-speed ferry is lower than two one-way tickets. Children 4 and under ride free, and every adult and child fare already includes the town embarkation fee of $0.50 one-way or $1.00 round-trip.

Car fares change with the date. The Steamship Authority charges its highest car fares from May 15 to September 14, with a higher rate on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays than on Mondays to Thursdays, a middle rate from April 1 to May 14 and from September 15 to October 31, and its lowest rates in winter. The check prices each car leg by its own date, so a trip that starts in a cheaper period and returns in a dearer one is counted correctly.

The high-speed Nantucket ferry carries passengers, bikes and wind surfboards only, so the car options switch off when you pick it. All vehicle travel between Woods Hole and Martha’s Vineyard is reservation-only; the fare is what you pay once you have a space, not a promise that one is open.

The check does not include parking on the mainland, excursion fares for islanders, military fares, same-day Nantucket fares, motorcycles or extended loads. For those, and for current availability, use the Steamship Authority’s own fare pages. More background is in Ferries to Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket: 2026 Fares, Car Reservations and Parking.
